WHAT WE DO
David and Marilyn Tran offer a variety of ministry for your church. Marilyn is a commissioned song evangelist in the Church of the Nazarene and she is a gifted singer and pianist. She also speaks at retreats and seminars. David is an evangelistic preacher who places a strong emphasis on holiness of heart. He is a tenured evangelist in the Church of the Nazarene.. They are also certified Marriage Enrichment teachers through the Office of Family Life Ministries, International Church of the Nazarene and can provide Marriage Enrichment Seminars or Retreats. David has been active in church planting as a church planter and a sponsoring church pastor as well as serving on Michigan District’s New Start Strategic Team. He also pastored multi-language/culture churches and is very comfortable with using interpreters when he preaches. He would be very willing to hold special services at new church plants and could lead seminars on church planting.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT US
David and Marilyn Tran have served in ministry with the Church of the Nazarene for more than fifty years. They met when they were both attending Olivet Nazarene University and were married in 1971. David graduated from Olivet in 1972 and received a Masters in Church Management from Olivet in 2004. He began pastoring in 1972, left for three years to attend classes at Nazarene Theological Seminary and returned to pastoring full time in 1977. He was ordained in 1978. Marilyn attended Cleveland Institute of Music and Olivet, where she majored in music. She taught music in both public and private schools for eleven years and homeschooled their children for several years. She also organized and led a homeschool group and trained parents in homeschooling. She was ordained as a Deacon in Music Ministry in 1998. Marilyn and Dave have both served on NYI and SDMI councils over the years and Marilyn was the adult ministries director for the Michigan District for seven years. She has held music seminars, homeschooling seminars, and adult ministries seminars for schools, churches and at district and multi-district events over the years. They have pastored in New York, California, Wisconsin and, most recently, Michigan. They were a part of the Michigan District Church of the Nazarene as pastors at Reading, Michigan for nine years. David and Marilyn have made their home in Freeport, Illinois for the last fourteen years as they served in full time itinerant evangelism but now are full time RVers. They are members of the Freeport Church of the Nazarene, where they attend when they are not on the road. They spend part of the year in the Midwest and Eastern US and part of the year in the West and Southwest.

THE EXTENDED TRAN FAMILY
Dave and Marilyn have three adult children and four beautiful grandchildren as well as two wonderful step grandchildren. All three children graduated from Olivet Nazarene University and their daughter and oldest son received their master's degrees there as well. Their daughter, Carollyn and her family live in California where she has a Counseling. Their son, Richard (in gray shirt) and his family live in the Galesburg, Illinois area where he is IT director for a hospital. Their youngest son, Jonathan (in black shirt), is single, and lives and works in Eagle, Colorado. The picture is a couple years old, but it is hard to get all three together when they live far apart.
AVAILABILITY AND COST
The Trans are willing to book concerts, revivals, camp meetings, marriage enrichment retreats, seminars or any combination of those, to meet the needs of your congregation. They travel all over the United States and Canada, as well as Haiti upon occasion, and try to book meetings in such a way as to minimize travel time.
Housing is not usually an issue for them because they have a trailer that they pull with their vehicle. All that is needed is a place to park their “home on wheels” where they can connect to power. Water connection is also helpful but not necessary. If they travel by plane (i.e. to Haiti), housing needs to be provided.
David and Marilyn have no set fee for concerts or revivals, but simply ask for a free will offering. For Marriage Enrichment retreats and seminars there is a small charge for printed materials for participants (usually this is about $5 to $10 per person but never more than $15) - when we travel to mission areas, this fee is usually covered by donations from individuals. Any honorarium for seminars or retreats is on a free will basis. Please contact them for details and to schedule.
"We want to be available for any size church and encourage those interested to trust God to supply the needs. We have learned to do just that and He has taken care of us. Our goal is to serve God and serve His people in any and every way possible. We do not set a minimum for offerings - free will means just that"
